Hi, Natasha here again and I’d like to tell you more about training for Pedal Prix at Coro.
Training is really important for many reasons. Your body need to be prepared to ride three or more laps at a time for the first race and you also need know what you are doing when you are in the car, so you have to be focused on everything going on around you.
Sports players need to train regularly to maintain their fitness levels and if you have done lots of sports before you would know this already. At times training may seem boring or pointless but before you know it, you are feeling better and the outcome is amazing and rewarding.
Here are my tips for Victoria Park training days:
1) Try and make it to all the training sessions and practice mornings. They will help a lot.
2) Always use your mirrors, they are really useful. You need to know what is happening around you. I think your mirrors are your ‘best friend’ when you are in the car!
3) Always keep to the left hand side of the track whenever possible, especially if you are a bit slower. Faster traffic overtakes on the right hand side. It can be dangerous to pull out unexpectedly in front of the faster high school and university riders.
4) Try and keep the vehicle in a straight line and avoid swerving.
5) Get to know the gears. If you can use them properly peddling is so much easier.
6) Enjoy the training and the races too, they are a great experience!
It was good to see everyone try their hardest last week at Victoria Park. The races are very competitive and the high schools and universities vehicles can travel around the course really fast. It can be a bit scary if you haven’t experienced it before, but you will soon feel more comfortable the more practises you can get to.
Thanks for reading my latest blog entry. I hope my tips are useful. If you have any ideas or suggestions of things you would like me to cover in the blog, let me know!
Thanks for reading!
