Sunday Vehicle Training -
Training will happen rain or shine as it is important students learn to ride in all weather conditions. If we need to cancel due to severe weather conditions we will notify everyone by messages, email and/or text. We often don't call it until as late as possible, so please keep an ear and eye out for a message.
A race event will only be canceled if the weather is deemed unsafe to continue. We are guided by Pedal Prix Australia in this regard.
All dates will be listed on the Coming Events Calendar page. Please put them in your diary and take special note of the dates that we train on a different time or day (underlined). We will be in contact regarding time slots for those dates.
Training is located in Victoria Park. We set up along Wakefield Road about 100 metres west from the Britannia Roundabout. Look for our Pedal Prix trailer. Parking is usually quite accessible along this stretch of road.
The riders will need a skater style bike helmet for Pedal Prix. This is the round shape, not the old style bike helmet that is slightly pointy at the back.
Cleated road bike shoes will be required this year. No need for fancy, and pre-loved will be perfectly fine. 3 bolt system required to match "Look" brand cleats.
(Cleats are purchased through us for a fee of $15, with $10 refunded at end of year if you return them.)
Sunglasses for when it is sunny.
Water for hydrating. If the rider has played sport beforehand, please make sure they are well hydrated between events. We take this very seriously, as the riders struggle with low energy and it will lead to poor performance. We will always have spring water available for topping up.
It is best that the students ride in shorts and a t-shirt. Long pants can become tangled in the chain which is a hazard, and they add to overheating.
Parents are needed to help keep the students moving through the vehicle changes, and to record times of their training.
Toilets are usually open for the public to use.
Bring your own chairs, coffee, warm jackets. Other family members most welcome.
